Erin’s House for Grieving Children : Common Bond Goes to the Ballpark | Parkview Field – Fort Wayne, Indiana Documentary Photography

For the second year in a row, I had the honor of documenting the Common Bond event for Erin’s House for Grieving Children. This year, Common Bond went to the ballpark! In order to accommodate social distancing guidelines, the Common Bond event was held at Parkview Field.

Fort Wayne’s Linda Jackson was the emcee again and keynote speaker was Roberto Clemente, Jr. He shared his story of grief and loss and his words of kindness and empathy moved the crowd. After his speech, we were treated to drumming by Josh Robinson and kiddos from Erin’s House. He told his his story and explained how music helped with his grieving process and now that is something he shares with others.

Wine for the Spirit | A Party Apart – Fort Wayne, IN

I had the honor of photographing the Wine for the Spirit fundraiser at A Party Apart in 2019 for Erin’s House for Grieving Children. This year it was held virtually, due to the current situation with COVID-19. I missed being with everyone, but was able to reminisce on last year as I prepared these images for the blog.

Erin’s House for Grieving Children : Common Bond Breakfast | Allen County War Memorial Colisuem – Fort Wayne, Indiana Documentary Photography

In June I had the honor of documenting the Common Bond Breakfast, a wonderful fundraiser for Erin’s House for Grieving Children.

With over 700 people in attendance, delicious food and beautiful venue space provided by the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, MC Linda Jackson, and keynote speaker Marcus Luttrell (Decorated Navy SEAL, Motivational Speaker, Best-Selling Author of Lone Survivor, Host of the Team Never Quit Podcast), the event was a huge success and raised over $130,000 to help the program continue to provide free resources and a wealth of support to grieving children in the community.

From the Erin’s House website: “Since 1993, Erin’s House for Grieving Children has provided a safe, nurturing, and comfortable environment for children to process through their grief. They learn how to express their emotions, share their feelings and reinvest back into their lives.”
