FREQUENTLY asked QUESTIONS

Planning a wedding or photo session can come with a lot of questions and things to consider. I have created a collection of the most common questions I’ve received over the years. Don’t see your question answered below? Reach out and I’ll be happy to answer them for you.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER?

My official photo journey began in 2008. I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Arts degrees in Studio Art, with a Concentration in Photography, and Minors in Art History and Painting. My unofficial journey began in childhood when I’d sneak off with my mom’s cameras and use up all her film. Sorry mom. 😉

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS?

Every photographer is going to tell you they’re passionate about photography – and they should be! If they’re not, they’re in the wrong profession. I treat every client as if I were taking photos of my own family, as if these were my memories I’m documenting. I take care to make sure you’ll remember every moment.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

I’m a Nikon girl. I shoot dual-bodied (2 cameras) because I like having exactly what I need within arm’s reach. I have a collection of various speedlights and off-camera flashes, light modifiers, light stands, backdrops, and batteries. Most importantly, backups upon backups!

WHAT IS YOUR PRICING?

Weddings begin at $2900. Sessions begin at $400. You can find more information on wedding pricing HERE and session pricing HERE. Pricing for events is completely custom. Please contact me for a personalized quote.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? WHERE DO YOU TRAVEL?

My studio is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I travel everywhere. <3

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH DESTINATION WEDDINGS?

Absolutely! I love to travel and go on adventures. If you are having a destination wedding, please reach out for a custom quote.

DO YOU OFFER VIDEOGRAPHY?

No. My specialty is photography. I am happy to recommend a variety of videographers should you need.

HOW MANY IMAGES DO WE GET?

I do not set a minimum or maximum number of images for weddings. The amount you receive will depend on the length of time of your event and what’s happening. You can expect approximately 50-60 images per hour for typical weddings, though this is not a guarantee.

The number of images you receive from portrait sessions will depend on the collection chosen.

WHEN DO WE GET OUR IMAGES?

Your beautiful photos will be delivered in six weeks for weddings and three weeks for sessions. Delivery time can be expedited for an additional fee. Please let me know in advance. Turnaround time for print products are as follows: please allow two weeks for prints, three weeks for canvases and wall art, and four weeks for heirloom albums to be received from the lab after your final approval.

WILL YOU EDIT UNWANTED SPOTS, WRINKLES, DOUBLE CHINS, AND MAKE ME LOSE 10LBS?

Minor edits will be made, however, as a documentry photographer, my desire is to tell stories through visual authenticity. These little distinctions are what make us beautiful and unique. However, if there are specific edits you want outside of my normal process, additional feels will be assessed according to the number of images and complexity of edits requested. Please allow extra time for extended editing.

DO WE GET COPYRIGHT?

There is often a lot of confusion between Copyright and Print Release. The Copyright of the creation of an artwork or photograph stays with the person who created it, i.e. your artist or photographer. A Print Release gives the client permission to print their images wherever they’d like in whatever way they’d like. It does not, however, give permission for the original artwork or photograph to be edited or altered.

I do not sell the Copyright to any works I create. You do, however, have a full Print Release to make as many prints and share wherever you like indefinitely.

The Print Release also grants you permission to use a print lab of your choosing. You are not required to use my professional lab. Please note, I cannot be held liable for any adverse effects or discrepancies encountered by using a lab outside of the professional lab I have vetted.

DO WE GET THE RAWS?

RAW images are unedited, unaltered images straight out of the camera. They require special software for viewing and processing. They are the “digital equivalent” of negatives and not the final product.

RAW images from your gallery are available for an additional purchase if that is something that interests you.

DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Absolutely, without a doubt, always and forever, YES.

MY VENUE NEEDS A COI. CAN YOU HELP?

I sure can. Please let me know at least 30 days in advance to obtain it from my Insurance Agency. Feel free to have your venue contact me directly and we’ll get everything sorted.

CAN MY AUNT SUE TAKE PICTURES?

Sure! Everyone is welcome to take photos if you’re fine it with. It’s a celebration, after all! I only ask that they do not interrupt my process, distract from anything I’m doing, or step in front of me. It’s best if they don’t join in on formal portraits. It’s hard to get everyone looking at me without another camera snapping.

WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOU?

Should the unlikely and unfortunate happen, whether a severe illness or emergency, I have a group of photograpers available to act as a lead replacement. They are all vetted, fully capable, kind, and of my caliber and shooting style.

I'M AWKWARD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA. WHAT DO I DO?

I completely understand. I am awkward in front of the camera, too! I’ve honed my skills in the almost two decades I’ve been in business and know how to put people at ease. I will guide you through any poses and encourage you to interact with each other. When in doubt, get silly or make jokes! Real laughter makes for the best smiles.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?

I can usually be found reading, gaming, going to music festivals, exploring nature, creating things with my boys, or just snuggling on the couch watching D-rate horror movies. Bookstore and record store date nights are my fave.

OKAY, WE'RE IN LOVE. WHEN SHOULD WE BOOK?

I am thrilled to hear that! Weddings are typically booked 12-18 months in advance, but every experience is unique. The best advice I can give you is to book as soon as possible to increase the likelihood of your date being available.

For portrait sessions, I recommend a minimum of 2-3 weeks in advance.

The ideal time for Fine Art Maternity sessions is between 28-34 weeks so you have an adorable bump but you’re not uncomfortable.

WE'RE READY! WHAT'S NEXT?

A non-refundable retainer fee of 25% your total investment and signed contract are due to secure your wedding date. Any remaining balance is due one month prior to the wedding.

Sessions require a non-refundable retainer fee of 50% your total investment and signed contract upon booking. The remaining balance is due 7 days before your session date.

Interest-free payment plans are available upon request.

“…she takes what she has available and uses it to create art...”

Whenever we’ve had a session with Kasey she’s always patient, kind, and smiling. . .The final outcomes of her creations are vibrant, crisp, and composed so well. Thanks for always giving us great memories for our family, Kasey.
