The day has finally arrived and you’re ready for hair and makeup and laughter with your besties. There’s music playing and snacks for everyone. Whether you want the Getting Ready portion of your day documented (I always love these moments!) or not is up to you; however, if you opt to have these beautiful moments captured, I’ve got some tips to help make the most out of what you’ve got!
Try to designate a clutter-free area. This helps with detail photos and those poignant moments during the Getting Ready phase. Clutter is distracting and we want to focus on YOU!
Gather all of your detail items in one place. Rings, shoes, jewelry, garter, cuff links, perfume/cologne bottles, invitations, mementos, etc. The more, the merrier. These items are so special to you and a part of your story. They deserve to be documented as well! Little details matter.
The more window light, the better! Natural light is gorgeous and makes you look your best. Not only is it great for photos, it’s helpful for hair and makeup styling as well because you need to see what everything looks like in natural lighting. Try to arrange your spot near a window, if possible. Having a window space where I can photograph your detail items is awesome.
Whether they’re on the wall, leaning against something, or handheld, mirrors are always fun and add a layer of depth and interest to your images. Grab a vintage handheld mirror from Amazon or Etsy to spruce up the image with beautiful details.
Remember to have fun! Pop the bubbly, put on some jams, and remember to laugh. <3
